| Abstract:The spectrophotometric method was used to determine polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) content in paper. Paper sample was extracted by hot water, the complex with blue-green color was produced by the reaction of PVA and iodine in the presence of boric acid, and the absorbance of this blue-green solution was measured at 690 nm. This paper discussed the influences of DP(degree of polymerization) and DH(degree of hydrolysis) of PVA on maximum absorption wavelength, and proposed the method of eliminating starch interference caused by starch-iodine complex,and analyzed the effect of matrix solution on the working curve. |
