Abstract:In this study, reactive quaternized polyethyleneimine (GPEI) was synthesized and applied for the enhanced modification of glass fiber filter paper, resulting in positively charged glass fiber filter materials that were used for filtering nanoplastics in water. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was employed to analyze the chemical structure of GPEI. The effects of GPEI coating amount and quaternization reagent dosage on the physical properties of the modified glass fiber filter materials and its filtration performance for nanoplastics in water were studied, the filtration durability of the positively charged glass fiber filter materials was also studied. The results showed that when the molar ratio of KH560∶PEI∶GTMAC was 6∶1∶1 and the GPEI coating amount was 6.0%, the modified positively surface-charged glass fiber filter materials exhibited optimal overall performance with a tensile strength of 0.789 kN/m, surface Zeta potential of +55.7 mV, filtration efficiency of 97.3% for 300 nm polystyrene latex particles, and filtration resistance of only 6.2 kPa. After 30 days of immersion in water, the filtration efficiency remained at 95.2%, demonstrating excellent filtration durability. |
