| Abstract:This study investigated the influence of three different hydroxy-based polymer coatings and coating weights on the moisture absorption/desorption properties and humidity control performance of coated paper. Additionally, an evaluation system was developed to real-time detect humidity changes in a sealed microenvironment, aiming to explore the feasibility of using coated paper for humidity control in such environments under various external humidity conditions. The results showed that the sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) coated paper exhibited the most favorable moisture absorption/desorption properties and humidity control performance compared to sodium alginate (SA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) coatings. Specifically, when the coating weight was 8.5 g/m2, the CMC coated paper (compared to uncoated base paper) showed a significant increase of 70.2% in moisture absorption capacity and 234.2% in moisture desorption capacity. Under the effect of high humidity or dry environment, after four opening and closing, compared with the uncoated base paper, CMC coated paper (with a coating weight of 34.1 g/m2) could reduced and inoreased the humidity fluctuation vaue of closed microenvironment by 11.5 and 8.6 percentage points, respectively. |
