Abstract:The transversal tearing resistance for meta-aramid paper of 3 mil (thick ness of 0.088 mm) was tested according to the requirements of the paper tearing resistance test, the uncertainty components were analysed and qualified, the evaluation method and steps were established, and quantitative evaluation of the uncertainty interval for the measurement of transversal tearing resistance of aramid paper. The results showed that for the same batch of Dupont T412-3 mil meta-aramid paper, the 5 sets of data of tearing resistance were (3084±24), (3161±102), (3092±92), (3064±134) and (3145±162) mN, respectively, the coverage factor k=2 with confidence level of approximately 95%, the data dispersion region was 24~162 mN. When measured in accordance with the specification according to the standard, the main influencing factor of uncertainty for tearing resistance measurement of aramid paper was the uniformity of paper samples, the second influencing factor was the calibration error of tearing resistance test machine, the influencing factors of notch length and cutting error were small, the influencing factors of temperature, humidity, layer number, etc. could be neglected.
