Abstract:The kraft hardwood pulp was modified by epichlorohydrin and diethylenetriamine (EDTA), and the natural formaldehyde free bio-based functional paper material was prepared by making modified pulp. The aminated cellulose fiber paper was tested, and its reaction conditions, physical and chemical properties and formaldehyde removal mechanism were discussed. Through fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), it was proved that the kraft hardwood pulp was successfully aminated, and the thermal stability of the modified cellulose was analyzed. In a sealed environment, the formaldehyde removal performance of the aminated cellulose fiber paper was tested with a multi-function negative oxygen ion detector. The results showed that the aminated cellulose fiber paper had a significant removal effect on formaldehyde, and the removal rate of formaldehyde was 77.15%, when the mass ratio of original cellulose∶epichlorohydrin was 1∶5, the mass fraction of sodium hydroxide was 8%, and the mass ratio of epoxide cellulose (OPFs)∶ EDTA was 1∶3. The physical properties of aminated cellulose fiber paper were tested, and the number of hydrogen bonds decreased due to modification, which reduced the tensile index of paper from 48.3 N·m/g to 29.0 N·m/g, increased the air permeability from 26.5 L/(m2·s) to 50.2 L/(m2·s), and increased the bulk from 1.94 cm3/g to 2.04 cm3/g.
