Abstract:The application of the Shewhart control chart and its improved method, exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) control chart in the papermaking industry was studied. A total of 120 batches of offset paper production data from a domestic papermaking manufacturer from September 10 th to 20 th in 2020 were collected. The training set was used to draw the Shewhart control charts and EWMA control charts of offset paper basis weight, thickness, whiteness, bulk and surface water absorption. The validation set was used to verify the accuracy of the control charts. As a result, the Shewhart control chart could monitor the abnormalities in the production process and ensure the quality of paper on time. The monitoring standards of the EWMA control chart were too strict, so that its practicality was not as good as that of the Shewhart control chart.
