Abstract:A determination method for 14 kinds of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in paper packaging for cigarette by headspace coupled with ion-molecule reaction mass spectrometry (HS-IMR-MS) was established. In this method, glycerol triacetate was used as dissolventand fluorobenzene was used as internal standard, paper packaging for cigarette samples were pretreated with static headspace instrument. Quantitative analysis of VOCs using IMR-MS was carried out. After optimizing the analysis parameters of the method, it was found that the analysis effect was the best when Hg was used as the ionization source, and the sample was equilibrated at 90°C for 40 min. The results of methodological study demonstrated that the detection limits of target compounds were 0.003 to 0.058 mg/m2 and quantitation limits were 0.009 to 0.207 mg/m2. The average recoveries were in the range from 94.51% to 104.69% at three spike levels, and the relative standard deviations (RSD) were range from 1.50% to 7.20%. The results showed that HS-IMR-MS as a new method for the determination of VOCs, it could be applied to the rapid analysis of VOCs in paper packaging for cigarette due to its simple operation and high accuracy.
