Abstract:The cationized microfibrillated cellulose (C-MFC) with different diameters was prepared from softwood bleached kraft pulp (SBKP) was sprayed onto the surface of a single-layer diesel filter base paper (the substrate) to obtain the composite diesel filter base paper (the composite base paper). The surface morphology of diesel filter base paper was analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The effects of C-MFC with different diameters on the pore characteristic, strength, air permeability and density of the composite base paper were experimentally analyzed. The results showed that the average diameter of C-MFC decreased from 154.5 nm to 68.3 nm when the homogenization pressure was increased from 10 MPa to 70 MPa. Compared with the blank sample, the average pore diameter of composite base paper was reduced from 21.3 μm to 14.1 μm, and the maximum pore diameter was reduced from 64.2 μm to 38.0 μm. And the pore size distribution of filter base papers was more uniform. The spraying of C-MFC could significantly improve the strength properties of diesel filter base paper. Prepared with C-MFC product which was obtained at a homogenization pressure of 70 MPa . The tensile index and burst index of the composite base paper were increased 61.2% and 124.6%, respectively compared with the control sample.
