Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study a method to prepare cellulose acetate pulp for cigarette filters with birch as raw material. The optimum conditions of prehydrolysis kraft pulping were determined by the means of orthogonal test. The bleached pulp met the requirment of cellulose acetate pulp in α-cellulose content, whiteness and pentosan content and so on. The reaction properties of the bleached pulp and imported pulp were compared. The bleached pulp could convert to be CA by acidification reaction, but existed some disadvantages in terms of dissolution properties and molecular weight distribution.
