Abstract:Five kinds of cigarette paper with different proportions of wood pulps were prepared and the physical characteristics of the papers, the ability of ash integration, smoke and sensory evaluation of the cigarettes were analyzed. The results showed that different proportions of wood pulps were able to prepare the cigarette papers with similar air permeability by regulating the pulp refining power, the pulp refining power increasing with the proportion of hardwood pulp increased. The cigarette papers with different proportions of wood pulps had no obvious difference in physical features, their air permeabilities were similar. The effect of wood pulps proportions on the main stream smoke was small, and the sensory difference was not obvious. Finally an ash integration of burning cigarette evaluation method was suggested. The evaluation of cigarette samples by this method showed that the cigarette ash integration was the best when the cigarette paper was prepared by using the same proportion of softwood pulp and hardwood pulp.
