Abstract:The effects of aminoalkylalkoxysilane coupling agents KH791, KH550 and JH-M902 on reinforcement and deacidification of Xuan paper were studied. The efficiency of the coupling agents were evaluated by the testing of tensile strength, folding endurance, pH value, and whiteness of the Xuan paper. The structure of the Xuan paper was also characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The results showed that the molecular structure of coupling agents strongly influenced their reinforcement performance. Application of KH791 alone could obtain the best results. KH791 treatment significantly improved the tensile strength and folding endurance of the Xuan paper. The anti-aging ability of the Xuan paper treated by KH791 was obviously improved. The basicity of KH791 helped neutralization of the acid in the paper, which delayed the aging process of the Xuan paper.
