| Abstract:In this study, tobacco stalk mechanical pulp was adopted as the raw material to investigate the effect of flotation treatment on pulp properties, and the influence laws of key flotation parameters including sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) dosage, flotation duration, and flotation cycles were systematically analyzed. The results showed that flotation could effectively remove non-fibrous cells from pulp and greatly improve the comprehensive properties of the resultant cigarette paper. When the SDS dosage increased from 0.1% to 3.0%, the brightness of paper increased gradually, while the number of dirt specks (ND) and total dirt area (SD) decreased continuously. Nevertheless, the improvement effect became marginal once the SDS dosage exceeded 1.0%. Extending the flotation duration from 15 min to 60 min raised the removal rate of non-fibrous cells, yet the flotation pulp yield decreased dramatically after 30 min of flotation. Increasing flotation cycles was beneficial to reducing dirt count, whereas conducting more than two flotation cycles would cause a remarkable loss of pulp yield. Under the optimized flotation conditions (1.0% SDS dosage, 30 min flotation time, and two flotation cycles), the flotation yield of tobacco stem mechanical pulp was 80.91%, the ND and SD of the prepared cigarette paper were 36 218 PCS/m² and 821 mm²/m², respectively. Meanwhile, the brightness of the paper incresed to 63.2%, the formation index dcreased to 78.76. |
