Abstract:In this study, the bleaching performance of kraft softwood pulp with active electrolyzed water at room temperature was investigated, and the effects of process parameters such as pulp-to-liquid ratio and bleaching time on pulp properties including CIE whiteness, Kappa value, polymerization degree of cellulose, and mechanical strength of pulp were analyzed. The results showed that the whiteness of kraft softwood pulp could be increased from 22.7% to 71.3%, with a Kappa value of 2.95, polymerization degree of cellulose of 918, and good mechanical properties under static conditions at room temperature for 12 h. Activated electrolyzed water was colorless, odorless, mild, and non-irritating, with a neutral pH maintained both before and after use. Comprehensive test results indicated that active electrolyzed water contained active oxygen species such as superoxide radicals(·O2-![]() ), which could react with the lignin in the pulp effectively, reduced the lignin content of pulp, disrupt the chromophore structure, and improved the whiteness of pulp. |
