Abstract:This paper systematically reviewed recent advances in modifying paper-based materials using various hydrophobic agents， focusing on the application of typical agents such as fluorides， silanes， stearic acid， waxes， and lignin in constructing superhydrophobic paper-based materials. The mechanisms of various hydrophobic agents in reducing surface energy and constructing micro-nano rough structures were explored， and their advantages and disadvantages in terms of environmental friendliness and cost were compared. By comparison， the bio-based materials like lignin hold greater potential for developing high-performance， environmentally friendly， green， and sustainable superhydrophobic paper-based materials， indicating promising future prospects.
