| Abstract:In this study, a series of aluminum-free liner paper were prepared via different process routes. Their main quality parameters, including barrier properties, forming performance, microstructure, and chemical composition, were systematically analyzed. Furthermore, the correlation between the microstructural characteristics and macro-quality indicators of the liner paper was elucidated. It was found that the barrier properties of the aluminum-free liner paper prepared by the paper-paper composite process were higher (water vapor transmission rate of 5.27~24.93 g/(m2·d)), the formability was similar with the transfer aluminum coated liner paper (the horizontal and vertical formability distribution ranges were 37°~49° and 41°~51°, respectively). In addition, the environmentally friendly liner paper prepared had less heavy metal content (cadmium, chromium, and mercury were not detected, while arsenic content ranged from 0.67 to 1.58 μg/g), good biodegradability, and a lower carbon footprint throughout its entire life cycle (aluminum-free liner paper 3.59 kgCO₂e/t, which lower than that of aluminum foil composite liner paper 6.98 kgCO₂e/t). Through machine experiments, it was found that the prepared aluminum-free liner paper had good machine adaptability. |
