| Abstract:The extrusion-molding processes involves in the preparation of pre-foamed beads through the foaming raw materials by screw extrusion, followed by molding the former beads under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions to obtain foamed materials. If the extrusion-molding processes and production equipment traditionally used for petroleum-based foam materials could be directly applied, it would significantly prompt the industrial production of biomass-based foam materials. In this paper, the foaming mechanism, methods, and factors influencing the structure and properties of biomass-based foam materials prepared by the extrusion-molding method were summarized. Finally, the challenges faced in the industrial production of these foam materials and prospects for future research were provided. |
