Abstract:This study systematically investigated the influence of stirrer combinations on the performance of water-based foams, with a comprehensive analysis of key parameters including foaming rate, air content, foam half-life, and bubble radius. Stirrer type, combination form, diameter, spacing, and flow pattern were used as independent variables, while the 3-minute and 8-minute foam half-lives were treated as dependent variables for multiple linear regression analysis. The results yielded correlation coefficients greater than 0.9. Principal component analysis (PCA) was further employed to clarify the contribution of each variable to foam performance. The results showed that the configuration of the stirrer combination was the dominant factor affecting foam performance, among which the double Rushton turbine blade combination demonstrated the highest foaming rate and foam stability. In addition, air content showed a significant positive correlation with foam half-life, with correlation coefficients exceeding 0.8, confirming their linear relationship. The intercept of the regression equation suggested that an air content of at least 60% was required for the linear model between air content and foam half-life to be valid. Subsequently, based on the study of the foam system’s performance, high aspect ratio quartz fibers were introduced, and a single-layer Rushton turbine blade was selected as the stirring and foaming device for the quartz fiber foam forming.
