Abstract:This study focused on the analysis of the morphological structure, crystalline characteristics, and mechanical properties of the five moraceae phloem fibers (Morus alba Morus cathayana Morus australis Ficus concinnaFicus heteromorpha). The results indicated that all five moraceae phloem fibers exhibited slender structures, among which the Morus cathayana phloem fiber had the maximum average length (3.02 mm) and the highest aspect ratio (123). The density of these five moraceae phloem fibers ranged from 1.47 to 1.65 g/cm³, all demonstrating high crystallinity (>80%), with the crystallinity of Ficus concinna phloem reaching as high as 87.42%. Significant differences were observed in their zero-span tensile indices. The Morus alba phloem fiber exhibited the highest dry zero-span tensile index (94.0 N·m/g), while the Morus cathayana phloem fiber showed the highest wet zero-span tensile index (62.2 N·m/g). Comprehensive evaluation of morphological structure and mechanical properties revealed that Morus alba and Morus cathayana phloem fibers demonstrated superior performance, establishing them as superior raw materials within the pulp and paper industry.
