Abstract:With the rapid improvement of living standards in China, the demand for professionals in the pulp and papermaking industry has been increasing. This has led to new requirements for the cultivation goals and models of high-level professional talents. The concept of “New Engineering Education” centers on a future-oriented approach, interdisciplinary integration, and the combination of industry, education, and research. It aims to cultivate talents based on innovation and creativity as the ultimate goal, promoting a new philosophy in modern engineering education. The integration of industry and education is an effective way to align higher education institutions with distinctive engineering features with relevant industries. This paper analyzed the current state of industry-education integration in the cultivation of talents for the pulp and paper industry, taking into account the new developments in the industry and the new situation in higher education. From the perspectives of constructing high-level professional talent cultivation models, industry-education integration practice platforms, and dual-qualified teaching staff, and discussed the practical experience of Tianjin University of Science and Technology’s pulp and paper specialty in terms of industry-education integration. The aim was to promote high-quality collaborative development between universities and enterprises in pulp and paper engineering field within China.
