Abstract:Chemical composition of raw materials is an important factor affecting the pulping performance of bamboo, and the study of the chemical composition of bamboo can preliminarily evaluate its application value in pulp and papermaking. This study focused on Dendrocalamus latiflorus munro as the object, the chemical composition changes during the growth process were analyzed, and the micro-distribution of lignin content was observed with the help of laser scanning confocal microscopy. The results showed that with increasing of bamboo age, the holocellulose and cellulose contents in Dendrocalamus latiflorus exhibited a gradual declining trend. Nevertheless, the holocellulose content consistently remained above 70% across all age groups. Then, the total lignin content increased from about 20% to about 24%. The content of phenyl alcohol extract increased with the increase of bamboo age. There was no significant correlation between ash content and bamboo age, generally less than 3%. Based on the comprehensive evaluation of the above results, the chemical composition indexes of Dendrocalamus latiflorus Munro could meet the basic requirements of pulp and paper raw materials from 8 to 36 months.
