| Abstract:In this study, poplar wood chips were used as raw materials, and bleached sulfate pulp (BHKP) was prepared by sulfate pulping and hydrogen peroxide bleaching methods. At the hydrolysis time of 6 h, cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) were prepared by the hydrolysis of BHKP with maleic acid (MA) catalyzed by ferric chloride (FeCl3). The effects of hydrolysis temperature and FeCl3 dosage on the properties of prepared CNC were investigated, such as morphology, thermal stability, crystal structure, and surface chemical structure. The results showed that under the reaction conditions of hydrolysis temperature of 100 ℃ and the FeCl3 dosage of 0.02 mmol/g BHKP, the yield of CNC reached 61.9%, the properties of CNC were better, with the diameters of 10~25 nm, the lengths of 100~275 nm, the Zeta potentials of ranging from -40.9 mV to -21.2 mV, the crystallization index of 70.9%, the carboxylate contents of 0.52 mmol/g, and the good thermal stability (Tmax of about 359 ℃). |
