Abstract:In recent years, depolymerization of lignin into highly reactive small molecule fragments has become a major mode of lignin utilization. Traditional lignin depolymerization strategies are mostly limited to the reaction conditions of high temperature and pressure and the use of expensive metal catalysts. Therefore, the study of mild reaction systems and high efficiency and low-cost catalysts are the key points to realize the efficient conversion and utilization of lignin macromolecules. In this paper, the research progress of lignin depolymerization methods under mild conditions in recent years were reviewed, the effects of solvent properties and catalyst types on lignin depolymerization were summarized, and the future development trend of lignin high-value utilization was prospected.
