Abstract:This study involved the analysis of the viscosity and molecular weight distribution of various synthetic/modified polymer materials, including polyethylene oxide, anionic polyacrylamide, hydroxypropyl guar gum, Abelmoschus manihot gum, and a compounded dispersant system. The investigation focused on the impact of these dispersants on the dispersion of Kozo fibres, as measured by drainage performance and paper sheet uniformity, as well as on the papermaking performance, including physical properties and ink absorption. The results showed that the D1 dispersant, a compounded mixture of polyethylene oxide, hydroxypropyl guar gum, and Abelmoschus manihot gum at a 1∶1∶1 mass ratio, exhibited the most effective results. After 48 h of placement, the viscosity of this dispersant remained at 387 mPa·s, and there was no significant change in molecular weight distribution, indicating that it maintained good pulp dispersion performance. When the addition amont of D1 added in untreated Kozo fibres was 12%, the uniformity index of the papers reached 137, the tensile index increased by 4.8%, compared to the sample without dispersant A1, the tear index increased by 6.2%, and the folding endurance increased from 51 to 287 times. The roundness of the ink in the paper was 0.72, the gray value deviation was 14.4, and the ink color inside the ink was uniform. |
