| Abstract:In order to improve heat stability resistance of flavor during production process of tabacco sheets, and reduce the loss of volatile substances in flavor, in this study, expanded graphite adsorbed with flavor was added to tobacco powder to prepare tobacco sheets. Surface functional groups and pore structure of expanded graphite were analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and high-pressure mercury injection experiment. The loss rate of the main volatile substances in the flavor during the drying process of the tobacco sheets were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that carboxyl or ester groups existed on the surface of expanded graphite. Expanded graphite was a substance with high pore structure of 84.2%, had good pore connectivity, and high adsorption capacity for flavor, with a saturated adsorption capacity of 5.73 g/g. After being adsorbed by expanded graphite, the loss of volatile substances in flavor during tobacco sheets drying process could be greatly reduced. Expanded graphite could be used as an adsorbent for flavor and applied to tobacco sheets. |
