Abstract:This paper presented an investigation into the process technology of poly(p-phenylene terephth amide)(PPTA)composite with cellulose fiber paper. The medium molecular weight PPTA was dissolved in DMPU/LiCl and formulated into a stable solution, which was then scraped onto the surface of ordinary cellulose fiber paper by the scraping method at a constant speed. The resulting gel coating was treated with a solidifying bath and subsequently dried to obtain PPTA-coated cellulose fiber paper. The introduction of PPTA surface coating resulted in an improvement in the denseness and continuity of the cellulose fiber paper surface, thereby facilitating a strong interaction with the cellulose fiber paper. The tensile strength of the composite paper increased significantly when the PPTA content was approximately 5.7%. The tensile strength of the cellulose fiber paper was 25.6 MPa, while that of the composite paper was 79.7 MPa,with a 211% increase. Similarly, the wet tensile strength increased from 0.134 kN/m to 0.731 kN/m,with a 446% increase. Additionally, the tear degree increased from 316.3 mN to 662.3 mN,with a 109% increase. Furthermore, the flame retardancy of the composite paper had increased significantly. It could self-extinguish within 3 when exposed to fire. Additionally, the electric breakdown strength of the composite paper was 20.9 kV/mm, which was an 90% increase compared to the original cellulose fiber paper.
