Abstract:This study analysed the effects of air pollutant types on the deterioration of antiquarian books and explored the treatment of air pollutants in the antiquarian book preservation environment. The results showed that the purification module could remove 99.8% of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and more than 80% of formaldehyde gas within the environment, and the module also had a significant control effect on formic acid, acetic acid, and other harmful gases commonly found in antiquarian book preservation environments, as well as providing continuous and effective air cleaning in high airtight spaces. In addition, by combining the constant humidity module, the constant humidity and stability of the preservation environment could be achieved. Therefore, a long-term preservation system based on a highly airtight enclosure, combined with purification, constant humidity, and data collection functions, could seal the preservation environment and was suitable for the long-term storage of paper-based materials. |
