Abstract:Lignin is a renewable natural aromatic polymer, and its active groups on the molecular structure make it as an excellent green adsorbent for adsorbing heavy metal ions, organic matter, and other pollutants in waste water and off-gas. In this paper, firstly, the structural characteristics and application of lignin were summarized. Secondly, the extraction and separation methods of lignin were reviewed, and the research progress of modification of lignin and the preparation of adsorption materials were summarized. Finally, the main application fields of lignin-based adsorption materials were summarized, and the future direction of efforts was looked forward to on this basis.
