Abstract:A papermaking process-reconstituted tobacco (PPRT) slicer was employed to prepare various shapes of reconstituted tobacco. Additionally, the chemical composition, whole cutting rate, broken cutting rate, cigarette quality of cut reconstituted tobacco, and sensory evaluation of cut reconstituted tobacco of these PPRT cuttings were evaluated. The results showed that there was a negative linear correlation between the whole cutting rate of PPRT and the hollow rate of cigarettes, while there was a positive linear correlation between the broken cutting rate and the hollow rate of cigarettes. There was no significant correlation observed between the structure of PPRT cuttings and their filling value. Hexagonal PPRT exhibited the highest whole-cutting rate and cigarette sensory evaluation score, which was 95.88% and 91.1 points, respectively. Additionally, hexagonal PPRT exhibited the lowest broken cutting rate and cigarette hollow rate at 0.6% and 0.8%, respectively, there was a clear correlation between the sensory evaluation of cigarettes and key indicators such as the whole silk rate and empty head rate of cigarettes. Therefore, hexagonal PPRT was considered to be the most suitable shape. This finding provides valuable theoretical support for the development of a dedicated slicing machine for PPRT. |
