Abstract:Organic solar cells (OSCs), with advantages of low cost, large-scale solution processing, lightweight and flexibility, have attracted wide attention in recent years. At present, the highest photoelectric conversion efficiency of OSCs has exceeded 19%. However, the great majority of OSCs materials are mainly manufactured from fossil resource derivatives, which constitutes serious threats on the sustainable development of OSCs. Researchers have carried out a lot of work on the development of biomass-based photoelectric materials, and successfully utilize these materials as OSCs substrates, photosensitive active layer, and carrier transport layers. This paper firstly introduced the device structures and working principle of OSCs. Then, the preparation and their applications in OSCs of biomass-based photoelectric materials such as lignin, cellulose, chlorophyll were reviewed. Finally, the development direction of biomass-based OSCs materials were prospected, aiming at providing references for the subsequent relevant researches and developments work.
