Abstract:In recent years, nanocellulose has garnered significant attention in the field of water treatment. The hydroxyl groups of nanocellulose exhibit a certain degree of attraction towards ionically structured contaminants, and their capture capabilities can be further enhanced through surface modification. The composite of nanocellulose with two-dimensional materials such as graphene enables the fabrication of high-performance nanocomposite materials, enhancing the material’s selectivity towards pollutants. The nanocellulose and several kinds of common two-dimensional materials were introduced in this paper, providing an overview of the applications of nanocellulose/two-dimensional material composites in the field of water treatment, including filtration, adsorption, and photocatalytic degradation methods. The differences in water treatment applications resulting from the composite of various two-dimensional materials with nanocellulose were compared.
