Abstract:This study involved the preparation of cationic sesbania gelatin (CSG) as dyeing aid using an etherification reaction and investigated its impact on the direct sunfast azure blue GL dyeing performance through the method of pad dyeing, subsequently determined the optimum dyeing process conditions. A moderate increase in the amount of etherifying agent led to higher substitution degrees of CSG, albeit its thermal stability was found to be inferior to unmodified sesbania gelatin (SG). Upon the introduction of CSG, dye molecules and CSG were able to effectively adhere to the paper surface through electrostatic adsorption, resulting in a significantly improved dyeing effect. CSG with a substitution degree of 0.22 and N content of 0.63% was chosen as the dyeing aid, with the optimum dyeing conditions being a dyeing time of 30 s, a solution pH value of 6, a CSG dosage of 0.8%, and a dyeing temperature of 70 ℃. This yielded a 168.9% improvement in dyeing performance compared to the SG group. The Δb* value exhibited minimal changes before and after water washing of the dyed paper, indicating that CSG simultaneously exhibited excellent color fastness properties. |
