Abstract:In this study, with the raw Xuan paper and writing materials prepared from 7 kinds of Chinese painting pigments as research objects, the properties of acid-alkali resistance, oxidation resistance, dry-heat aging resistance and UV aging resistance were expericed, the protective effects of chitosan, sodium alginate, and hydroxyethyl cellulose coating on paper relics were explored. The results showed that the three kinds of reinforcing agents all played a certain role in delaying the aging of paper and pigment. The compound solution prepared with 0.9% hydroxyethyl cellulose and 0.5% gelatin had the most significant color fixing effect. After dry-heat aging and UV aging, the color difference was significantly reduced compared with the writing material without coating. At the same time, the pH value of the acidified paper could reach 7.55, which was more conducive to the long-term preservation of the paper relics.
