Abstract:As the most abundant natural phenolic polymer in nature, lignin is a potential substitute for phenol in the preparation of raw materials for phenol-formaldehyde resin adhesive. In this paper, the changes in lignin structure and reactivity during the separation process of industrial lignin were analyzed, the physicochemical methods for pretreatment or modification of industrial lignin were summarized, and the application performance of synthesized lignin-based phenol-formaldehyde adhesive using modified industrial lignin were reviewed. Finally, the prospects for developing lignin-based phenol-formaldehyde adhesive with high lignin-substitution rate and high-performance were discussed.
