Abstract:In this study, X-ray CT was used as a testing method, combined with digital image processing technology, to establish a method for characterizing the pore structure and surface morphology of paper. The effects of coating on the three-dimensional structure of paper were studied, and the internal mechanism of coating affecting paper properties was explained from a structural point of view. The results showed that after coating, the porosity, pore size and coordination number of paper decreased, while the pore tortuosity increased, which increased the resistance of fluid flowing through pores and thus increased its barrier property. Coating also changed the surface micro-morphology of paper. The root mean square deviation of surface profile lines decreased, and the undulation of paper surface decreased, which improved the smoothness of paper. The three-dimensional structural characterization of coated paper based on X-ray CT technology helped to clarify the relationship between the structure and performance of paper-based materials, and promoted the development of new paper-based materials. |
