Abstract:Bagasse is a by-product of sugar industry, and it is also a renewable biomass resource with abundant yield. Most of bagasse in China is directly used as biomass fuel or as a feedstock for pulp production, generating relatively limited economic benefits. This paper analyzed the current situation of the bagasse in traditional areas such as the preparation of pulp and biomass fuels, and presented the main exist problems. On this basis, the recent research progress in the preparation of new high-value products such as oligosaccharides, nanocellulose, carbon quantum dots and activated carbon from bagasse was summarized. Finally, a strategy for the multi-value and high-value comprehensive utilization of bagasse resources was proposed, with a view to realizing industrialization of high-value bagasse products.
