Abstract:High chromium cast iron and steel are commonly used materials for pulping refiner plate. The main failure factors of refiner plate were discussed by means of microstructure characterization, hardness testing, and impurity morphological analysis. The non-metallic impurity and casting defects directly affected the wear performance of refiner plate. However, the second phase precipitated carbide in the microstructure could strengthen the matrix so as to enhance the wear resistance. This research provided technical direction to further improve the wear resistance and stability of the refiner plate material.
