Abstract:A carbon emission accounting model based on the input-output analyses was established to calculate and evaluate the carbon emissions of China’s paper industry in 2020. The results showed that China’s paper industry had a certain carbon emissions impact, direct carbon emissions intensity ranked the second among the non-traditional high energy-consuming manufacturing industry, with carbon emissions generated relatively high by creating unit output. Indirect carbon emissions were the second lowest among non-traditional high energy-consuming manufacturing industry, with the highest carbon emissions contribution to the electricity supply industry, followed with the chemical, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, and other industries. Among the export trade, Vietnam had the most significant carbon emission pulling influence. Several initiatives were proposed in this paper, such as strengthening policy guidance, optimizing industrial layout, implementing energy structure transformation, attaching importance to carbon reduction of intermediate inputs, and encouraging the export of paper products with low carbon emissions and high added value. |
