Abstract:In this study, a complex coating used in paper relics protection was prepared by modified waterborne polyurethane with nano-SiO2 via in-situ polymerization. The surface appearance and mechanical properties of hand-made xuan paper before and after coating were studied, and the application performance of the coating to the simulated paper relics was characterized. The results showed that the nano-SiO2 with photocatalyst function introduced into the waterborne polyurethane was good dispersed with nano particle size. Moreover, the coating absorbed about 80% of the UV in the whole UV band, indicating a certain UV shielding effect. When the nano-SiO2 content was 0.5%, compared with control xuan paper, the tear strength of xuan paper increased 204.9% and the tensile index increased 282.7%, and with a good UV aging resistance. |
