Abstract:The hydrophobic kapok and hydrophilic glass wool fiber were used in this study to investigate the effect of kapok fiber content in self-made filter on the diesel fuel/water separation efficiency and to reveal the interaction mechanism between hydrophilic/hydrophobic fiber and water droplets(Dv, 50=10±1.5 μm)in diesel fuel. The results showed that glass wool fiber was good for capturing small water droplets in diesel fuel, and kapok fiber could influence the direction of movement of small water droplets, increasing the probability of small water droplet collision and agglomeration. As the content of kapok fiber increasing, the diesel fule/water separation efficiency of self-made filter first decreased and then increased. When the kapok fiber content was 80%, the diesel fule/water separation efficiency of self-made filter was 65.9%, and the pressure drop was 0.9 kPa. Compared with commercial filter, the separation efficiency of self-made filter increased by 33.8% and the pressure drop reduced by 0.7 kPa, respectively. |
