Abstract:The effect of refining process on the optical and mechanical properties of cellulose films was studied in this paper. The black needle pulp with beating degrees of 60°SR, 70°SR, 80°SR and 90°SR, respectively, were obtained through refining by PFI refiner. Then, the cellulose films were prepared by defibering, vacuum filtration and vacuum drying, of which the transmittance, haze and mechanical properties were measured. The results showed that changing the beating degree of black needle pulp by PFI refining process could adjust the optical and mechanical properties of prepared cellulose films. When the beating degree of black needle pulp increased from 60°SR to 90°SR, the size of the crystalline region of the prepared cellulose film decreased from 8.8 nm to 8.6 nm, the crystallinity decreased from 64.3% to 58.7%, and the transmittance increased from 35.7% to 50.5%, the haze decreased from 97.8% to 94.5%. The tensile strength and tensile strain of cellulose films prepared from black needle pulp with a beating degree of 90°SR reached 31.5 MPa and 7.5%, respectively. |
