Abstract:As a filler in the production of cigarette paper, calcium carbonate can improve the air permeability and adjust the burning rate of the cigarette paper, while the compounds of potassium, sodium and magnesium used as the combustion regulator in cigarette paper directly participate in the combustion, and the content of which will affect the release of smoke components from cigarette combustion, thereby affecting the sensory quality of cigarettes. Therefore, establishing a method for the determination of Na+, K+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ content in cigarette paper is of great significance for monitoring the quality of cigarettes. In this study, a method for simultaneously determining the contents of Na+, K+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ in cigarette paper was established by using ion chromatography. The results showed that a good linear relationship among the four metal ions was found with R2>0.9995,the detection limit 0.01~0.03 mg/g,the relative standard deviations <5%,and the recoveries of the ions 97.4%~106.2%.
