Abstract:The cell wall structure of five species of China’s typical Thymelaeaceae phloem fibers (Wikstroemia canescens, Daphne genkwa, Edgeworthia chrysantha, Aquilaria sinensis, Stellera chamaejasme) was investigated in this study. The results showed that the phloem fibers of five Thymelaeaceae species of were slender, and the middle section of Edgeworthia chrysantha and Aquilaria sinensis phloem fibers was significantly wider. The surface of the five phloem fibers were rough, the microfibrils of the primary wall were arranged in a network, and the microfibril size of the Aquilaria sinensis phloem fiber was the largest. The fibers had multi wall structure, and the microfibril angles of the phloem fibers of Wikstroemia canescens, Edgeworthia chrysantha, Aquilaria sinensis and Daphne genkwa were 10.66°, 10.55°, 10.20° and 19.67°, respectively, which were much smaller than that of Stellera chamaejasme (40.11°). |
