Abstract:In this study, 7 different absorption detection methods were used to detect and analyzed 6 samples of watercolor paper with different absorption capacity, and a set of detection methods suitable for determining the absorption capacity of watercolor paper were established. The results showed that all of ink line method, liquid penetration method, surface absorbance and Hercules sizing tester were not suitable for testing the absorption capacity of watercolor paper. The absorption capacity of watercolor paper could be evaluated synthetically by Cobb method, contact angle method and dynamic permeability method. When the Cobb (60) value of paper was in the range of (20±4)g/m2, the contact angle should change little within 30 min, and the permeability rate expressed by dynamic permeability curve of 1200 s should be fast.
