Abstract:Light weighted and environmentally-friendly sound-absorption and thermal-insulation paper-based materials were prepared with basalt scales and softwood chemical pulp as raw materials via wet forming process of papermaking. Effects of basalt scales content on the thermal insulation and sound absorption properties of the softwood chemical pulp/basalt scales composite paper-based materials was studied. The results showed that the sound absorption of the composite paper-based materials were effectively improved in the range of 1200~1800 Hz and 2500 ~ 3400 Hz when basalt scale content was 30%. The maximum sound absorption coefficient could reach 0.86. In addition, the thermal conductivity of the composite paper-based materials was decreased with the increase of basalt scales content so that the thermal stability of the composites was increased. When the basalt scale content was 60%, the composite paper-based materials exhibited excellent thermal insulation performance with the corresponding thermal conductivity of 0.041 W/(m·K).
