Abstract:TEMPO-oxidized nanocellulose/polyacrylamide (TONC/PAM) composite hydrogels with strong adhesion were prepared by free radical polymerization of AM with addition of TONC in this study. The structure of TONC/PAM composite hydrogels was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The morphology, rheological, and swelling behaviors of the prepared TONC/PAM composite hydrogels were discussed. The shear strengths of the TONC/PAM composite hydrogels with different TONC content towards various substrates were investigated. The results showed that the pore size and swelling ratio gradually increased by increased the TONC content. When TONC content was 0.4%, the pore size was (600±50) μm, and the swelling ration was 1700%. When the curing time was 48 h, the maximum shear strengths on wood were 5.0 MPa without TONC and 8.0 MPa with TONC content of 0.2%. Therefore, the TONC/PAM composite hydrogels have great potential for various applications in wood and building. |
