Abstract:In this study, a double network hydrogel with good mechanical properties and recyclable adsorption ability was developed via simple radical polymerization between methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC) and acrylamide (AM) and in the presence of oxidized starch (OS) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). When the concentration of OS solution was 9%, the prepared hydrogel had the best performance. The compression modulus of the hydrogel could reach 2.01 MPa, the swelling degree was only 11.16 g/g, and the maximum adsorption capacity towards methylene blue (MB) was 602.6 mg/g with pH value of 8 and MB concentration of 200 mg/L after 480 min at 25℃. After five times of adsorption-desorption process, the removal rate was still 94.8%, and the desorption rate was 74.2% of double network hydrogel towards MB. |
