Abstract:The influence of fiber raw material composition on the filtration resistance and filtration efficiency of the filter pad for cigarette smoke composition analysis was discussed. Furthermore, the filter pad reinforcement process was studied. The experimental results showed that when glass fibers with diameters of 0.5~1.0 μm and 10~20 μm were used with the mass ratio of 58∶42,the filtration efficiency of filter pad without adding adhesive could reach 99.970%, and the filtration resistance was 330 Pa,which could meet the requirements of 99.9% filtration efficiency and 360 Pa filtration resistance, but the tensile strength was poor. When 4% homemade latex and 0.4% PAE were added, the tensile strength of filter pad could reach 1.01 kN/m with the filtration efficiency of 99.980% and the filtration resistance of 345 Pa.The filtration performance of the filter pad could reach the level of imported products and conform to the requirements of ISO 3308 (or GB/T 16450) standards.
