Abstract:The effects of air permeability, grammage, content of combustion supporting agent, potassium/sodium ratio of combustion supporting agent and ash content of cigarette paper on the release of 7 harmful components and H value in the mainstream smoke of short cigarette were investigated. The results showed that the air permeability of cigarette paper was significantly negatively related to the release amount of CO, HCN and phenol. There was no significant correlation between the air permeability and the release amount of crotonaldehyde. The change of air permeability had the greatest influence on HCN release. There was a significant positive correlation between cigarette paper grammage and CO release amount. A significant negative correlation existed between cigarette paper grammage and phenol release amount. The change of grammage had the greatest impact on phenol release amount. The content of combustion supporting agent and the ratio of K/Na in cigarette paper were negatively correlated with the release amount of 7 harmful components, and had the greatest influence on the release amounts of Benzoapyrene and HCN, respectively. The ash content of cigarette paper had negative correlations with phenol, CO, ammonia, Benzoapyrene and HCN, but no obvious correlations with crotonaldehyde and NNK, and a greater influence on the release amounts of phenol and CO.The hazard index H value had significant negative correlations with the permeability of cigarette paper, the content of combustion supporting agent and the ratio of potassium/sodium of combustion supporting agent and had a certain negative correlation with the quantitative of cigarette paper and the ash content. By optimizing the characteristic parameters of cigarette paper, the release amount of 7 harmful components and hazard index of short cigarette could be reduced.
