Abstract:In this study, the effects of different pulping conditions were investigated including KOH and NaOH dosages of 3%~7% (KOH basis) and immersion times of 10~80 min on the physical and chemical properties of wheat straw chemical mechanical pulp and paper. The results showed that under normal pressure and a mild immersion temperature of 95℃, the wheat straw chemical mechanical pulp impregnated with KOH had higher tightness and strength than that impregnated with NaOH. During the impregnation process, due to the strong delignification ability of KOH, the pulp yield of wheat straw chemical mechanical pulp impregnated with KOH was lower. KOH was relatively alkaline, resulting in a higher pH value of the residual liquid. In addition, KOH had a stronger ability to destroy the crystallization zone than NaOH, so the fiber morphology of the wheat straw pulp with KOH impregnation was better than that with NaOH impregnation.
