Abstract:As a special paper for watercolor painting, watercolor paper has an important influence on the effect of watercolor painting. In this study, the watercolor paper was aged for 72 h in a incubator at 105℃, and the static contact angles of the watercolor pigment solution with pigment mass fraction of 0.02%, 0.04%, and 0.06% on the surface of the watercolor paper before and after aging were measured. Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer, and scanning electron microscope were used to analyze the micro-morphology of the paper surface before and after aging. The results showed that the average contact angles of the watercolor paper before aging with 0 (distilled water), 0.02%, 0.04%, and 0.06% watercolor pigment solutions were 117.607°, 120.086°, 122.864°, and 122.275°, respectively; the corresponding aged watercolor paper average contact angles were 115.737°, 119.045°, 114.279°, and 115.147° respectively. The wettability of the watercolor paper did not change significantly before and after the aging experiment, and it was hydrophobic. After aging, the contact angle of the watercolor paper with 0.04% and 0.06% watercolor pigment solutions changed greatly.
